The Jimmy Kimmel Live Scavenger Hunt

I do not regret ever subscribing to Jimmy Kimmel's Youtube page because everyday there are new videos that had me laughing every time, alone in my room :))

Aside from Guillermo's antics and Jimmy Kimmel's funny interviews, I find this Scavenger Hunt really cool.

Below is the first video I saw. Jeremy Lin is so adorable!

Heat Wave edition. Jimmy Kimmel also asks regular viewers to join in on the fun.

Here's the latest with Tyson Chandler and Rajon Rondo as the special NBA player guests. Well, a bit boring to be honest but it's RAJON RONDO. So no guessing game there.

Katipunan Saturdate

I rarely go to Katipunan these days  so if any reason pops out I immediately grab the opportunity. This time, I'm meeting someone to claim a prize for a friend.

We decided to meet at Serenitea and while waiting ordered a large cup of Hokkaido milk tea. It felt like drinking coconut-fused milk tea haha.

After the short meet-up, we proceeded next door to Flaming Wings for a quick bite. I remember that this joint have been in Katipunan for a long time now but only eaten here once a long, long time ago.

We ordered Wing Meal (for the Cheese) and Tenders (mine). JC's meal came with this huge mango drink, even bigger than my Large Serenitea!

Here's the chicken wings in original sauce with wasabi mayo dip.

And here's my Tenders with Bleu Cheese dip.

Medyo meh yung sakin (not tender at all). As for the wings, I've tasted better chicken wings. But I'll give Flaming Wings 4 stars for its affordable food choices, best value for university students talaga :)

Where the Hell is Matt?

This will give you warm fuzzies. See Matt wiggle it in front of the camera once again with people of different colors, races and walks of life.

Matt has been dancing (and traveling) since 2005. In his first "dancing video" you can see that he dances alone in popular and not so popular landmarks of the countries he have been to.

Look at how skinny he was in his first video.

The outtakes are pretty funny. It was a sort of a preview of his 2006 dancing video.

But I've got to say 2008 was my favorite out of all his dancing videos. Why? Three reasons. 1) DMZ, 2) The surprise coordinated Indian dance steps (no matter how simple), and; 3) more people joining him in his dancing.

Sigur Rós - Fjögur píanó

Sigur Rós + Shia LaBeouf  = Absolute delight.

PS: Shia totally bared it all. And that face (no, not the facial hairs), that emotion. No wonder this boy is such a darling. At least when he's sober.

Moshi Koshi Noodle Boss

I finally got to eat in Moshi Koshi Noodle Boss along with friends! This fairly new Japanese restaurant conveniently sits near our office building along Shaw Blvd.

Here's what it looks like from the outside. It's right in front of Puregold Supermarket so you really can't miss it.

Look at their giant menu. Choose anything you like from here then pay up front at the cashier.

Here's the interior.

Sir, are you the noodle boss?

Ten ordered this potato salad for sides.

This Kaki-age soba, however, is her main.

This miso soup comes free with any bento meals.

Ten with her koshi noodles.

According to their website, Koshi is that sweet taste of tender and chewy noodle, firm but not hard with resistance to the bite. I didn't exactly get to experience this because I ordered a bento haha.

Tempura Udon for Romy. The tempura's huge ha!

Just being silly.

Here's my Shogayaki bento. It came with Japanese rice, miso soup and 4 sides that I'm not sure what the names are. The white one on the left side felt like tuna salad but I'm sure it's not tuna. I didn't ask haha. The one in the middle is sort of pickled veggies (not sure again).

Another interior shot of Moshi Koshi Noodle Boss.

My remaining food mates, Romy and Ten. We miss you Reg!

Happy Birthday Kimi!

Last Saturday, I headed to Baguio to visit my friend Kimi and godchild Kai Mykonos. Perfect timing because she also celebrated her 27th birthday the next day.

I have to admit though that I sort of suck because I took so few photos that day haha. I was distracted by Manny's game against Bradley (which sadly, he lost) and with the wonderful food from Happy Tummy. Yes, I was back at Ketchup Food Community once again (something to look forward to whenever I'm in Baguio).

Here's our cow girl, este, little Kai Mykonos on our way to Ketchup Place.

Here's Kimi chatting with her friends. There were other guests of course but I forgot to take photos nga, not even a group shot!

Between Sampaloc Juice and Thai Iced Tea, I chose the latter. Eep, too sweet. But nothing that an extra water can't fix.

Same goes to the Sampaloc juice. But it's really nice, something new.

Here's the first batch of the food. Hello pad thai, I missed you.

The bibi finally woke up and had a pensive look. Very, very Suri Cruise haha.

Same photo lang pala but on wider angle haha. I swear there were so many food I'm such an olats for not capturing them.

All in all, I'm sure that was one unforgettable birthday celebration for Kimi mainly because it was the day that Manny Pacquiao lost to Timothy Bradley (I don't even know the guy!). To say that Filipinos all over the country (and abroad) and international fans of MP were shocked is an understatement. They say Manny was robbed of a title that should be rightfully his. Don't worry, in our hearts, Manny's still the champion. Sino pa ba susuporta sa kanya kundi kapwa nya Filipino.

Aside from that, and the heavy rains that poured, I'd like to think (and hope) that Kimi had a great day. It may have been a quiet and simple occasion, but with your family and friends (no matter how few) beside you, for me (for me lang ha), is more than enough.

Later that day, after a hot cocoa that Tito Rolly fixed for everyone, he and Kimi dropped me off at Victory Liner terminal where we met our friend Juraine. She gave our cake present (okay more of her cos I haven't paid her yet hahaha) to Kimi, too bad we didn't get to taste it. We were all scrambling with our limited time. Kainis. But here's a photo of the cake from Kimi's instagram.

Last photo would still be of my ever growing inaanak. Until next time!

SI Inggolok at Ang Planeta Pakaskas

Saw this book at Mt. Cloud bookstore while I was in Baguio, suddenly Batibot memories came rushing through.

I adore Batibot. It's safe to say that people same age (or close) as me grew up with Batibot on their tellies. We didn't have the Sesame Street gang, Dora the Explorer nor Phineas and Ferb. We had Pong Pagong, Kiko Matsing, Kapitan Basa, Sitsiritsit, Alibangbang, Direk, GingGing, NingNing, Ate Sienna, and of course, Kuya Bodjie. Kapitan Basa was sort of my personal favorite and hero. I got my love of reading from him :)

We were so happy and content.

I miss Batibot, singing along to Kapitbahay song and giggling whenever Irma daldal gives Direk a hard time.

Oh the memories a book can trigger.

PS:

Today is the 114th Independence day of my beloved country. Maligayang Araw ng Kasarinlan, Pilipinas kong mahal!

The Cake Club by Diamond Hotel

After a greasy lunch at Nolita, we then went across the street where The Cake Club is located. Once inside, you'll get a whiff of the place's sophistication, definitely not your ordinary pastry house. Where else can you find desserts encased in glass it seems like you're looking at an artifact instead of drool-worthy sweets?

I'm glad The Cake Club by Diamond Hotel opened another branch at Bonifacio High Street (the other one's in Rockwell Powerplant ) because I don't have to go all the way to Manila to indulge of their highly recommended desserts.

The menu outside the restaurant

We ordered this:

Vanessa: strawberries and cream in between pistachio macarons

Baked cheesecake goodness

I really suck when it comes to writing about the whole food experience. All I can say is that they were really delicious and worth every penny. Feeling ko para na rin akong nag-cake somewhere in the cobbled streets of Paris. Chos.

Sitting in the table next to us was none other than defense lawyer Karen Gimeno! Too bad we were all too shy to ask for a photo with her haha.

They also sell Royce chocolates.

As we were about to leave, this guy which I think is the store manager, handed us this fancy envelope. Inside are coupons that we can use with our purchase on our next visit. Neat!

A Despedida at Nolita

For my friend Reg's despedida lunch, we headed over to Bonifacio High Street and ate at this relatively new place called Nolita (short for North of Little Italy). Executive chef Cuit Kaufmann, the mastermind of this newest pizza joint in town, is also the same person behind Borough Comfort Food in Podium. It's his way of bringing NY-style pizzas from his home city to Manila so we could also have an authentic experience without having to leave the country.

We were so excited to eat here so we were all hyper and giddy on what pizzas to order only to find out that almost all of what we originally wanted to order were not available :( I would also like to point out the unapproachable/unfriendly staff there. We, along with other people in the line, wanted to ask him about the pizza flavours but he seemed too unwilling to entertain the customers. But in fairness to him, I noticed that he was the only guy reheating/making the pizza there but still, he could do with a smile :)

Nolita menu board

We ended up ordering Regular Cheese, Cheeseburger, Fresh Tomato & Garlic and Spicy Italian Sausage since most of their bestsellers were not available, what a bummer.

Instructions on how to go about ordering and eating in Nolita. Yes to "eat with your hands"!

They also sell imported beers which have really cute logos.

Everything is self-service. Get your own order, water and utensils.

We also ordered Beer Battered Onion Rings and Honey Garlic Chicken Wings for sharing.

Man oh man I fell in love with their Honey Garlic Chicken Wings. It's so good! I'm glad that their chicken wings are tasty as it is already for their dip was on the bland side.

We will miss you Reg and all our food escapades :( Goodluck in law school! We hope to see more of you despite your new schedule, future lawyer :)
