Happy Birthday Harry!
For the boy who lived in the cupboard under the stairs for 11 years, found out he was a wizard on his 11th birthday, got labeled as the "Chosen One" when he was 16, has just turned another year older. For me Harry Potter is as ordinary as everyone, just born in an extraordinary circumstance and world.
Happy 29th Birthday lad! And oh, of course this also means: Happy Birthday Miss J.K. Rowling!
Cheers!

Inspirational Quote of the Day
"Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. So wake up in the afternoon. Tipid pa sa almusal."
or not! heehee.
Kermit and Miss Piggy
Such a random day. My shift is about to end and look what song I found myself humming along..
"Love Led Us Here" | |
(sing along with Kermit & Miss Piggy) | |
(From Muppet Treasure Island) Kermit: Was I dumb or was I blind Or did my heart just lose its mind Why'd I go and throw our perfect dream away Piggy: Looking back I'll never know How I ever let you go But destiny could see we deserved to have another day Both: Love led us here Right back to where we belong We followed a star And here we are Now heaven seems so near Love led us here Kermit: Now I know that life can take you by surprise And sweep you off your feet Piggy: Did this happen to us or are we just dreaming Both: Love led us here Right back to where we belong We followed a star And here we are Now heaven seems so near Love led us here Kermit: So take my hand Piggy: And have no fear Both: We'll be all right Love led us here Did you watch it? Did you remember when they were hanging upside down (Kermit and Miss P?) I do. So vividly. :D |

Tuesday Blah
Office internet connection became impossibly slow again around 4 in the afternoon. Time to bloghop!
Got irritated grr..
Supposed dinner with office friends got cancelled. Sad.
Can't wait to get my hands on that free sticker. Ayuh, I'm a sucker like that.
G'bye!

"Happy Everafter In Your Eyes"
by Ben Harper
The morning sunrise spread her wings
While the moon hung in the sky
Held the sea in your hands
And happy everafter in your eyes
Couldn't leave you to go to heaven
I carry you in my smile
For the first time my true reflection i see
Happy everafter in your eyes
Every star in the night
Promises the dawn
I will be there if you fall
To ever so heavily rest upon
All that i can give you
Is forever yours to keep
Wake up every day with a dream
And happyever after in your eyes
Happy everafter is in your eyes
Such a sweet yet, sad song. :(

It'll be almost 3 years since I "met" you as the junkie but has-a-soft-spot-for-his-gay-brother Kuya Bogs. It was followed by an endless highs of meetings and generally just being a plain obsessed fan, to a mellow supportive fan to being a background friend. Well, that's how I see it anyway. Besides, I think I deserve that with all the craziness I did and kilometers I ran for you. Ha! Kidding.
Oh, advance Happy Birthday tomorrow! Pa-PenPen ka naman!

Strung Out
There is a big empty spot in this life right now. I'm antsy, I can't stay put, I'm fidgety. I will be Obama-fied and will ask for change. Or else I dunno where I'll be days, months, years from now.

Remembering Frank McCourt
'Tis was the first McCourt novel I read. Not even the best-selling Angela's Ashes. But still, before I knew there was Angela's Ashes, I already fell in love with this guy, even if his way of writing was kinda erm, unique. I immediately read Teacher Man right after it was released or that time I finally found it on the book shelves. It was entertaining, funny and touching. The whole time I was reading it, I always picture my own grandmother, who was a retired teacher too. I was so amused with his family that even his brother Malachy's novel, I bought and read.
With Mr. McCourt's death, I guess it's about time to start leafing through, and relived days with Angela. Funny how I've always have the book but never got to reading it.
On the bright side, you are now in the company of the best writers in the world. Have an intellectual but fun conversation with 'em!

Potter Disappoints
First thing first. Poster courtesy of the Leaky Cauldron site.
This is supposed to come out as one of the best among the series seeing that it is the penultimate, but that was not the case. As my middle-aged seatmate said after the credits came up "is that it? no explosions?". Gotta agree. It lacks a lot of things. But action is on the top of it. Teen hormones are flying everywhere (I dunno if Harry is just torpe or doesn't really know anything!)
Some comments/observations:
* Ginny is taller than Harry.
* The first scene in the movie was not in the book at all, one of the many deviation from Mr. Yates.
* Horace Slughorn is not TALL for cripe's sake!
* Where were the other characters? They were elsewhere, nowhere and in the background.
* In connection with above, where was Fleur and Bill?
* Really, Death Eaters in Hogwarts yet nothing happened. Again, where were the actions?
* I wish Daniel Radcliffe could cry.
* Rupert Grint was good in this one.
* While everyone wore puke-able gowns, Hermione is stunning with her own. I don't wonder why.
* Quidditch game was fun!
* Converse rules!
* Dumbledore's death was ...
* Maybe it's just me but I think I'm having a glimpse of a good Snape this early. Ha!
* I bloody wish Deathly Hallows won't be anything like this one. :(
Too many comments.. must stop now..

Ice Age 3 in a Nutshell
..there were few minutes of distinctly Star Wars: The Phantom of Menace race sound fx in the background. No surprise there as it was produced by Blue Sky Studios. It has Lucas written all over it.
..T-Rachel? Now that's funny!
..this is Rudy here. The pretty huge guy who took Buck's right eye.
..and here's the wuss. Laughed my ass off, thanks Diego for that.
And ooh, the possums are still demented, but I admire their loyalty. By the way, is it me or Sid was having an identity crisis there? Not that I have a problem with that, duh. He's looking rusty but I love him nonetheless.
All in all, it has humor and dialogues not really meant for kids. Cheers!

Wednesday LOVE
While I was staying on the Cheese's turf a few months ago, I managed to catch some episodes (it was a marathon actually!) of Bondi Rescue. Apparently, the Cheese has been watching it too and instantly got hooked before I did. The show's pretty simple: a bunch of (hot) lifeguards at work patrolling Bondi Beach, Australia's most popular and most visited beach.
Being a lifeguard though in Bondi is not as easy as it looks because there's always danger lurking behind, whether in water or in land. These guys, and a girl, are really mean machines when it comes to saving lives. Guess that's the reason I enjoy watching this series so much. I hope to complete watching all the eps in the future.
Brooke Kassell is the only lady lifeguard among the testosterone-fueled environment of Bondi lifeguards. She's really, really good honest!
Ahh Deano. Dean "Deano" Gladstone is my little crush among the hot boys. Not Whippet, not Corey, not Hoppo. Simply Deano. He looks geeky to me!

Once
While I was in the middle of watching Once, I fell in love with the movie and everything Indie about it. I am a big supporter of independent films, local or international. I'm just amazed by what they can produce with such meager budgets. And in this movie, with the fact that both lead characters had no other experience in acting, professional-wise.
And don't even let me start with the OST. It is abso-freaking-lutely wonderful. LOVELOVEIT! I loved it so much I pestered the Cheese in finding ways to download at least some of the songs. I especially loved Falling Slowly and Broken Hearted Hoover Fixer Sucker Guy.
Falling Slowly even won 2007 Academy Award for Best Original Song. Too bad I didn't know them yet that time cos I watched that Oscar last year. But at least now I knew why it won.

Sometimes, no matter how cheesy, irritating, unwanted or unnecessary, we want to hear it. We want to be reminded why we are loved or if we are loved at all. I think it's one of the common misconceptions these days: we don't say what we feel, when in fact it's something that some people badly want to hear, because we're too busy/embarrassed about it.
Surely 5 years ago I was not the same person I am today. Nor 10, 4, 3, 2 years ago. Who is anyway? I was a kid (yes I'm still premature that way) who will never admit to anybody how special they are to me, in my life. Even my grandmothers are two of the most unfortunate people not to even hear from their granddaughter how much she love them. My bestfriend, my closest friends.. I loved them in a uniquely sort of manner, keeping it all inside. Love, appreciation, gratefulness, admiration, all bottled up inside. But I can say this, times really are a-changin' and it too, has a wonderful way of softening one's heart. I dunno if it's old age. Definitely not at my age. Maybe it's wisdom finally creeping in after all those years wishing of having it. Or maybe it's love being reciprocated in many ways you have never imagined.
Whatever it is, I'd still like to have it 20, 30, 40, 50 years from now.

Saturday Excitement
Can't wait to claim the book I won on Miss Zafra's Libro Libre week 4. In fairness, this is the last batch and I'm glad I still made it. So excited! Thanks again Miss Z.
And if the Cheese is up to it, we might catch this too at the Powerplant after. Two birds with one stone. Yay!

Wednesday LOVE
Ever since they released their first single "Telepono" followed up by "Mariposa", I knew that I was hooked to this trio. I loved Ebe, Jal and Mitch like they were my very close friends that I get to chat everyday, I love them like they were some secret allies who knew my innermost dramas in life.
Problema, di nga lang sila sumasagot. Pero okay na yun kasi may mga musikero palang nagbibigay buhay sa mga nararamdaman natin, nakapagsusulat ng mga karanasan natin. At posible pala yun.
